Still true more than a century later, and yet those who stand to lose the most with a war – working people with children and grandchildren – can still be conned into thinking that going to war somehow proves a nation’s strength. A nation’s strength lies in the health and wellbeing of its citizens, not in their deaths.
True in the 1930s when Khalil Gibran said it, and true now.
A person with a gun is not an asshole.
A person who uses a gun to silence someone else, whether it’s Charlie Kirk or Martin Luther King Jr., meets my definition of an asshole.
